She has an oval shaped face, large brown eyes, and long dark hair. Her style is considered casual, and she is more comfortable in jeans and tennis shoes than she is in high fashion and heels (though she can still work it when the opportunity presents itself).

Character's Species/Race (aka human, elf, dragonblood human, etc): Human/Doppelganger

Character History: http://vampirediaries.wikia.com/wiki/Elena_Gilbert

Chosen Canon Point: End of Season Three, as Matt’s car is driving off Wickery Bridge.

Personality and Psychology:

At first glance, Elena seems like a pretty typical, albeit popular, teenage girl. Before her parent’s accident, in fact, that’s exactly what she was. Elena got good grades, was on the high school cheerleading team, and enjoyed going on dates with her cute boyfriend and spending time with her friends. Then her parents died, and everything changed.

Since then, Elena has had to struggle with the grief of losing her parents, meeting Stefan and Damon, finding out they were vampires, falling in love twice, nearly dying herself multiple times, dealing with the supernatural changes in her friends, watching more of her family members die, and finally drowning in a second car accident.

To say that the girl has needed to mature, adapt, and change is a vast understatement. And the people around her have changed in incredible ways as well, partly (and in some cases mostly) because of her.

Where she once used to be a somewhat naïve and idealistic girl, Elena has been forced to face a lot of things that would have broken most people. She’s needed to face some grim realities about her life and how they’ve affected the people she loves. Guilt is something she deals with on a pretty consistent basis, since so many people have had to suffer so that she could live, like when Bonnie’s birth mother was changed into a vampire in order to save her life. In the face of this, though, Elena continually becomes a stronger person, doing what needs to be done, instead of believing that things will turn out well for everyone somehow. She’s become more strong and ruthless, having Alaric help her train in self-defense, and subduing enemies herself, instead of always being the one that needed saving. While Stefan and Damon, along with others, still end up needed to help her relatively often, she still plays a more major role in defeating their opponents, or attempting to at the very least.

Elena has always been stubborn, though. Throughout the series she’s wanted to do things her way, even with the Salvatore brothers can see that she’s throwing herself into situations she’s not capable of dealing with. She’s something of a martyr, willing to do literally anything in order to preserve the lives of those she loves, including die for them. It’s something she’s proved again and again, and she gets upset often because those same people she’s trying to protect end up hurt or dying in order to save her instead.

She’s also in love with two different men at the same time, though in completely different ways. She fell for Stefan when she was just starting to come back to life after her parent’s death. He helped her find some meaning to her life again, even if it did lead her into a world of danger and supernatural creatures. He was kind of like her rock, something she could cling to when things got hard, who would always listen to her and do whatever it was she wanted or needed.

Damon, on the other hand, got under her skin slowly, and the way she feels for him is more passionate and wild. No matter what she did, and no matter what horrible things he did, she couldn’t shake how she felt, which is telling to how deep her feelings go, even though it took her an incredibly long time to admit to them. These things only intensified when he nearly died, and when Stefan went off the deep end.

Now that both brothers are back and themselves, and she loves them both, things are even more complicated. When it was thought that they were both dying due to the apparent death of Klaus, Elena decided to go to Stefan instead of Damon, because she’d fallen for him first and because her friends were also there, and it was an enormously difficult decision for her to make. In the end, though, it didn’t matter, since she and Matt drove off the same bridge where her parents died, and Elena drowned because she had Stefan save Matt first. This is just another example of her persistence in keeping her friends safe before herself.

You will find no friend more loyal than Elena. If she grows to trust and love someone, then she will do anything she can to help them, no matter the circumstances. There is nothing more important to her than those she cares about, which is even more amplified by the fact that other than her brother, she literally has no family left.

Her eagerness to protect others get her into a lot of trouble, as she’s also incredibly stubborn, absolutely hates being left out of the loop, acts rather brashly and impulsively when she thinks she’s correct, and will do dangerous things on her own if she feels she has to. Fortunately, she’s also rather easy to see through, and not a very good liar if you know her well enough.

Luckily, though, Elena is kind and good at making friends, which means she has plenty of people there to pick her back up when she messes up or bites off more than she can chew. Being as tight knit as she and her friends are is one of the things that’s kept them all alive, after all.

For all her altruistic intentions, Elena still has a selfish streak. She keeps people close to her, even if it isn’t in their best interests, because she feel she can’t let go. She’s kept both Stefan and Damon as close as possible, even though she knows she’s hurting them. A part of it is the fear that she’ll make the wrong decision, part is that she doesn’t want to to hurt anyone, and part is that she simply wants the both. She knows it’s wrong, and yet she strings them both along anyway. She did a similar thing with Matt before the series began; even though she wasn’t in love with him anymore, she couldn’t seem to break it off. Her friends are constantly in danger, and yet she always has to stay and fight instead of run and truly protect them. Even her martyrdom is, in itself, selfish, because she simply doesn’t want to lose anyone else. While none of these things make her a bad person, and in fact there’s perfectly plausible reasons as to why she feels this way, it still reveals that she’s not quite as selfless as she appears to be.

Her experiences have left her with some deep seeded fears, despite her best attempts to work through them. Though she’s good at hiding It, Elena is always anxious when riding in a car, due to being in numerous car accidents, most importantly the one that killed her parents. She is terrified of becoming a vampire, which seems to be a constant threat given the company she keeps. She also has a constant fear of abandonment, which attributes to her actions involving people she loves and being unable to give them up; nearly her entire family has died in the last year and a half, and most of them did so in front of her. Her life has been a traumatizing experience in recent history, and it’s taken its toll on her. She has the tendency to be jumpy and on edge, and often even a bit paranoid.

When it comes right down to it, though, Elena is a good person, and she always tries to do the right thing. The biggest problem is always trying to figure out what’s right in the first place.

Memories Retained or Lost:

Elena will lose the majority of her memories. The only memories she’ll keep are very vague emotions related to several important people, specifically Damon, Stefan, Bonnie, Caroline, Matt, Jenna, Jeremy, Ric and her parents. Their names evoke an internal emotion, though she can’t quite place why. If she ever ran into them, she would find them remarkably familiar and perhaps even be able to recall their name, but no specifics. She also knows she's a doppelganger, but doesn't know exactly what that means.

Powers and Abilities:

Elena is the current Petrova Doppelganger, which is considered a supernatural creature in her canon. Her blood is useful in spells and curses, and is capable of linking other supernatural beings when used by a witch. For example, her blood was used to link together the Original vampires in a spell so that killing one would kill them all. The original Doppelganger’s blood was used to create vampires in the first place, as well as curse Klaus with his hybrid curse. The Petrova Doppelganger’s blood is also the only way for Klaus to create new vampire/werewolf hybrids now that his curse has been released. Without it, the newly made hybrids die quickly and violently.

The Petrova Doppelganger is born approximately every 500 years on June 22nd. Tatia was the original, the first Doppelganger was Katerina/Katherine, and the second was Elena. With Elena’s death, having never had a child, it is thought that she will be the last Petrova Doppelganger. Each doppelganger looks identical, with similar personalities when they are young. It seems that men that spend quite a bit of time with the Petrova Doppelgangers have a good chance of falling for her, as well, so it’s possible that something in their genes/blood causes them to be more attractive, though this is unproven.

Other than this, Elena seems very much to be a normal human girl. She has some training in self-defense, and she’s in good shape, but nothing more than above average for a teenage girl.

Roleplay Samples

Link to a sample of your character in action:

http://scorched.dreamwidth.org/1237056.html

Link to a sample of your prose writing style:

Kawakami Bansai had not experienced a battle worth his attention in a long while. It seemed like it had been ages since he’d had the opportunity to enjoy the steadily increasing tempo of an epic fight, to get wrapped up in the notes that sprang from each clash of metal upon metal, jumping octaves along with the bright sparks. To be completely immersed in the sway of another’s sound. The last time it had happened, he had made the decision to follow that person into hell with little more than a second thought. This time, though, it had been almost dizzying. Overwhelming.

That had been what it was like to fight Sakata Gintoki. No, to fight Shiroyasha.

His music had been brilliant, as bright as the unusual color of his hair, and yet it had been maddening because he hadn’t been able to follow it. It was unruly and unkempt, changing and shifting with each passing measure, and it had taken all of his skill to keep the man from instantly defeating him with each of the swings of his wooden sword. That one encounter would most surely inspire many of the songs he would write in the coming months, perhaps even longer. Bansai hadn’t enjoyed a fight like that since…

Well, since he’d met Shinsuke, who sat on the opposite side of the room he now inhabited, years before. Though to most people, the room would have simply been filled with silence other than the gentle tones emanating from the shamisen in each of the men’s hands, Bansai heard an entire chorus; this tune was deeper and darker than the man who had eventually defeated him, but it enthralled him all the same. Even moreso, as it always had, and it came from the only other person in the room.
He knew what the man was going to ask for before he even opened his mouth. Shinsuke would want answers, and as a man of his word, Bansai would answer them truthfully. Though he had been defeated, the main task he’d been set to accomplish, to distract the government’s military, had been successful. It was the side mission, the one that would have been most difficult, that did not happen, and he easily shrugged off Shinsuke’s comment about being weak. They both knew that wasn’t the case, it was simply a way of expressing mild disappointment.

And the musician himself couldn’t possibly be disappointed. Even with the peak of the piece being that fight with his master’s old comrade, there were other shining examples of sounds he always craved to hear among the Shinsengumi as well. Sounds that he wanted to hear again someday, to see what other tunes they could make together. It reminded him of Shinsuke’s own organization, only the music had an entirely different feel, and although he didn’t believe he could, or would ever want, to harmonize with them, it was most certainly intriguing to hear.

It was the first time he hadn’t been upset about losing, if only so he could experience it again in the future.

Any other important information (including special inventory items in their possession):

Elena wears a necklace given to her by Stefan. It is imbued with vervain, which prevents vampires from using compulsion on her. It is also an indestructible talisman, which contains a portion of Esther’s (The Original Witch) magic.

Why do you think this character would join/work with the Knights?

Elena is the kind of person that always wants to help. She’s not satisfied sitting on the sidelines, and always needs to be in the thick of everything in order to feel useful. She craves excitement and danger, even if she implies otherwise, and would rather help and be hurt than sit back and stay safe. Dying for the sake of others is something she attempts to do all too often, after all.

Do you have a preference for which NPC brought in your character?

No preference!

comments

CHARACTER NAME: Elena Gilbert
CHARACTER SERIES: The Vampire Diaries

[OOC]

Backtagging: Of course!
Threadhopping: Sure.
Fourthwalling: Not unless appropriate to your muse's canon.
Offensive subjects (elaborate): I'm not very easily offended. Promise.

[IC]

Hugging this character: By all means. She'll probably hug back unless she hates you.
Kissing this character: Sure, but she'll react poorly unless she likes you.
Flirting with this character: Go for it~
Fighting with this character: Sure, but she's not the best at fighting back.
Injuring this character: Minor wounds, by all means. Anything serious, ask first.
Killing this character: Ask first. Will require serious plotting.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: By all means, just warn me. <3

[Kinks]

Things I won't do: Extreme vore and anything that belongs in a bathroom.
Extra Notes: I am comfortable writing almost anything, so don't be afraid to ask, so long as it's not from the above list. I enjoy everything from vanilla to kinky. I also do not mind dub/non con so long as it's well plotted. :)

comments
